Empowering students through quality education since 1964
K.G. Joshi College of Arts and N.G. Bedekar College of Commerce was the first institution of higher education to be established in 1969 in Thane. Since then, it has prospered into a mammoth place for learning. Keeping in tune with the mission and vision of the institution, Junior College has worked incessantly to mould its students accordingly, the priority being all-round personality. To achieve this goal, the teachers efficiently play the dual role of teachers as well as mentors.
The College abounds in co-curricular programmes and activities, enhancing the students' artistic, interactive and organising skills.
It encourages the students' artistic talents. Our students participate in intra collegiate activities and competitions. They also participate in inter-collegiate events and have won positions in performing as well as fine arts.
These committees promote reading and writing skills. Books are issued by the Library Committee and review sessions on the books along with brainstorming discussions are conducted.
Both help to instil a social and environmental awareness and commitment to society and environment.
The NCC Unit has an army girls unit which has an enrolment of 60 cadets. Our cadets have won gold medals for map-reading, health and hygiene, and for several cultural events. The unit conducts activities throughout the year with cadets attending camps at state and national level.
The College has a remarkable record in sports and athletics. The college has a well-equipped gymkhana, separate grounds for different outdoor games, excellent coaching for the students. Not surprising that our sports students have achieved accolades at national and international levels.
Special measures are taken by teachers for the rankers as also the students who have difficulty in studying. This is done through practice papers and additional lectures.
Digital attendance of students ensures regular attendance and thereby aids better academic results.
The Cell aims at providing emotional succour to the students who can approach the Cell for academic and/or personal help.
This course has been designed to develop life skills like relationship management, interaction, initiative-taking, leadership, handling situations and developing confidence and self-worth. It is rare of its kind initiative taken in a Junior College.
