About Surge: Past Students Association
Surge, the Past Students Association of VPM's Joshi Bedekar College of Arts and Commerce Autonomous, is a registered association established on July 3rd, 2003. The initiative to reunite past students under one roof was first proposed by the Former Principal, S. W. Gokhale Sir.
Aims and Objectives:
The main aims of this association are as follows:
- To bring together all past students onto one platform.
- To provide aid to needy students.
- To create awareness about various social, mental, health, and financial programs amongst the students.
Other aims include:
- Education: To uplift the educational standard of students and provide them with books, notebooks, and other necessary assistance.
- Sports: To encourage and expand sports activities through ground maintenance and by providing funds to aid students in participating in higher levels of sport competitions (state, national, and international).
- Employment Support: To provide employment and support self-employment opportunities for students of Thane College through the network of past students.
- Career Consulting: To offer workshops and guidance for courses like M.B.A., Diploma in BMS, C.A., I.C.W.A., C.S., M.P.S.C., and U.P.S.C. with the help of well-qualified past students of the college.
- Infrastructure Development: To contribute to the construction of facilities such as a badminton indoor hall, a library, and a nature park with diverse plant species.
- Community Support: To provide assistance under the banner of Surge Association during natural calamities, epidemics, pandemics, and other crises.

Membership Fees:
Rs. 500 /- per person for 5 years. (Membership has to be renewed after every five years.)
